After a month hiatus with finals, other exams, vacations, and more, I am back to continue these twice-weekly weather forecasts! In addition, I will also be writing articles and giving updates on tropical systems that form since hurricane season has begun. Thanks for sticking with me and read on for the latest forecast!

Currently, it is 79 degrees in Leesburg with partly cloudy skies. Tonight, expect clouds to linger along with a low around 71.

Current radar image. Some thunderstorms have developed up into Pennsylvania.

Tomorrow (Monday) will be just as hot as today with temperatures rising past 90 and high humidity levels. It will be mostly sunny with a high around 92. The heat and humidity will cause the atmosphere to be very unstable so some thunderstorms may develop in parts of the region during the afternoon/evening. As a front moves in from the west Monday night, clouds will return and the low will be around 68 (could be slightly higher or lower depending on exact speed of front).

Along with the colder temperatures, rain showers will move in throughout the day with a high around 72. As the front moves out, clouds will gradually disappear during the night. Tuesday night will have a low around 51. Wednesday and Thursday will give us back the sun and more normal summer temperatures for the area. Wednesday will have a high around 75 and Thursday’s will be around 79. The lows will be around 55 and 58, respectively. Friday looks great as well with more mostly sunny skies. It will be slightly hotter once again than the previous day, with a high around 82 and low around 64. High pressure taking over the area on Wednesday will prevent some showers, so it will be a rain-free couple of days before some more rain returns next weekend!

Currently a tropical depression, Claudette will be moving across the South to the east before rapidly moving north. It is expected to actually strengthen a bit to tropical storm status before getting to the coast, likely due to some warm water and air, but will probably happen as close to the coast as possible due to being over land. Regardless, any impacts to the North and South Carolina coasts will be minor, and the storm will move out quickly. Other than Claudette, there is no other activity in the Atlantic. No activity is expected in the Pacific at this time.

Current NHC forecast cone.

My next weather forecast for the weekend will be posted on Friday afternoon, and any tropical weather posts will be released when needed.
