The week starts off with some thunderstorms for this Sunday afternoon. The map below shows current warnings and advisories. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning currently in effect (as of 5:10P, expiring shortly). It will be an active evening for the area as thunderstorms build from the west racing across our region to the east. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was also just issued at the time of writing this for D.C. proper, and surrounding areas, including Fairfax, Montgomery, Prince William, and Fauquier.

Current radar picture as of 5:15pm

It is currently 63 degrees and raining in Leesburg. Thunderstorms will continue through the early evening hours before tapering off, later staying mostly cloudy with a low around 38. The front will bring some gusty winds and Wind Advisories are in effect for much of the area with wind gusts of 50–60 mph expected. High pressure will take over after the front moves through on Monday, with sunny skies and a high of 56. Monday night looks quiet with clear skies and a low around 38. Tuesday is similar with sunny skies but temperatures jump up to the mid-60s with a high around 66. Monday and Tuesday will still be breezy with gusts of 20–30 mph. Tuesday night will have a low around 49 before Wednesday brings some more active weather.

Wednesday is looking to be pretty rainy with showers likely for most of the day and continuing into the night. It will be warm with a high around 65, but low around 36. The rain and clouds move out late Wednesday night, making way for sunny skies on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will be colder than what we have been used to for the past couple of weeks with highs for both days in the mid-40s and lows in the high-20s. Luckily, the seasonable temperatures return in time for the weekend.

My next post will be on Friday detailing the forecast for the weekend! (for real this time)
